Kitties' Purrfect Adventures

At the end of 2022, I challenged myself to make a Christmas-themed game over the holidays. The result was Mistletoe's Purrfect Christmas, a cat platformer (or "catformer") with one complete festive level. Shortly thereafter, in February 2023, I developed Romeo's Purrfect Valentine, a similar project based on a different holiday. Although I published them separately, in my mind these are two levels that belong in the same game. Hence the anthology title Kitties' Purrfect Adventures.

Just like everything else in these games, the music was heavily inspired by the 16-bit platformers of my youth. To achieve this sound, I made extensive use of the RYM2612 synthesizer as well as classic waveform VSTs. In Mistletoe's Purrfect Christmas, the level music features cat and sleigh bell sounds as well as a fairly obvious reference to Jingle Bells, while the title music gives a bit of a nod to "Wonderful Christmastime" by Paul McCartney. On the other hand, the music for Romeo's Purrfect Valentine is romantic and tango-centric.
